Skiing in Arizona? Absolutely. The Arizona Snowbowl is just a short 40 minute drive from Sedona and is located seven miles northwest of Flagstaff. The ski area is amid the pine-topped lava flows of an extinct volcano in Arizona's San Francisco Peaks. The hill features scenic trails, a 2300 foot vertical drop and an array of challenging runs for both downhill and cross country skiing.

Formerly known as Williams Ski Area, the Elk Ridge Ski Area provides alpine skiing for the beginner through to the advanced. Boarders are welcome and board and ski rentals are available from the lodge. To get to the ski area from Williams drive south on 4th Street, which becomes Perkinsville Road (approximately 2.5 miles to Ski Run Road). From there it is 1.5 miles to Elk Ridge.

Mount Lemmon Ski Valley

Mount Lemmon Ski Valley is one hour drive east of Tucson, in the Santa Catalina Mountains. Ski-equipment rentals, a restaurant and a snack bar are located on-site. The ski hill is usually open from mid-December to mid-April.

Located in the Coconino National Forest, the Flagstaff Nordic Center is 15 mi (24 km) northwest of Flagstaff, AZ. The center features more than 25 mi (40 km) of groomed cross-country ski trails. Accommodations at the ski hill include the Eco-Hideaway Cabin and the Aspen Yurt, perfect for a family getaway.
